What is Save the Storks?

Save the Storks is a pro-life ministry in which we attempt to intercept abortion minded mothers at the door of the abortion clinic. We use a Stork Bus, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, counseling and love to offer young mothers hope. We bring a sonogram machine right to the girl via our Stork Bus and show her an image of the baby that she is carrying. We are a movement that is interested in changing the face of pro-life sidewalk counseling.

Why are you using storks as the icon for your movement?

For thousands of years people have promoted the myth that storks deliver the babies. The stork is metaphorical for the mother, and we specifically want our mission to care for the mother and not only the child. Only by rescuing the mother can we save her child. Our mission is to save storks!

What is a Stork Bus?

It is a medical type vehicle equipped with a state-of-the-art sonogram, which allows us to counsel and minister to the young women, as well as shows them a picture of their baby. It is the face of the ministry and the vehicle that drives us on to saving storks every day.

Who runs Save the Storks?

Save the Storks is a product of Live Offensively LLC. We are a ministry that seeks to move Christians from faith to action.

How are you different than other pro-lifers who are at abortion clinics?

We have seen pro-life people show their views in many different ways, from picketing to praying. We have also seen people lay in front of the doors of the clinics. We are not interested in debating what techniques are acceptable. However, the stork campaign is the most efficient and effective approach that we have ever seen.

We show Christ's love and compassion to the abortion minded mothers while offering them a service. We desire to show them Christ in everything we do. We attempt to provide them with up to date and accurate information on what abortion actually does to the baby and the mother. We offer safe and effective alternatives, as well as a free sonogram and picture of their baby. We offer women who decide to keep their baby resources such as milk, diapers, children's cloths, a safe place to stay, discipleship and biblical counseling.

What is your plan once you get a Stork Bus?

Our first bus will be given to the Downtown Pregnancy Center in Dallas, Texas. We are calling this first Bus the Dallas Stork Bus. We hope to take the Dallas Stork Bus on a tour to show the nation our vision by doing our ministry at abortion clinics everywhere.

Why is your first bus going to Dallas, Texas?

Texas has one of the fastest growing abortion markets in the entire country. Part of the Live Offensively team lives in Texas and has found an amazing pregnancy center in Dallas that wants to partner with us. We have decided to give our first bus to them.

Why do you hope to give the buses away instead of keeping them for yourselves?

Right now pregnancy centers are a defensive force that waits for girls who are in a crisis to show up for help. This is an amazing ministry; however, we want to help pregnancy centers to be both offensive and defensive. Just like in a war or a football game it's a combination of offense and defense that ultimately wins. We want pregnancy centers to engage the girl at the clinic and offer her the same love and care as the girl looking for help.

The stork project is dependent on resources and loving support from the pregnancy center. We need pregnancy centers to follow up with women and supply them the resources that they need. These young mothers need counseling, discipleship, a local loving community, food, formula, diapers, and clothing for their babies and so much more that these centers are able to offer.

How can I get involved?

We need a lot of things but mostly two things: prayer and money.

We would love for you to come up with a creative way to mobilize people both to financially contribute to our bus projects and to pray regularly for our efforts. If you feel called to a life of ministry we welcome you to join us in Dallas, Texas as soon as we have our first bus.

Another way you can help us is to spread our name out to your friends and family. Post messages about us on Facebook and MySpace. Tell everyone that you know about our movement. Write a blog about us and put a link that lets people know where to find out more. Please feel free copy anything on our website or repost our videos so that more people hear about us. Ask your local radio station to interview us. Ask your home church to help us buy a Stork Bus.

How can I save a stork?

You can help save a stork by actually volunteering with Save the Storks and working with the buses, as well as helping us financially. You can also help out at your local pregnancy center and look for opportunities in your everyday life to share about how valuable life is. These are just a couple different ways to help save a stork.

How much does it cost to save a stork?

We have taken the amount it costs to buy a bus and use it all year, and then divided that by the estimated amount of babies we will be able to save in a year; this comes out to $350 per stork. It costs less than $1 per day for a year to save a stork. Some people will be able to save an entire flock at this price. We hate to put a price tag on life; however we are only limited by money at this point.

Where do donations go for Save the Storks?

All donations are sent directly to the Downtown Pregnancy Center in Dallas, Texas. They are a 501 (C) (3) not-for-profit registered Texas corporation that will manage all the funds for the Dallas Save the Stork ministry. Ultimately, they are the ones who will be writing out the check for their local stork bus. The Downtown Pregnancy center will provide you tax deductible receipts.
